Little To Report, But Not Little Going On

Well there is little to report this past week, not much has really happened. There are always things going on around me however, they are much like things that go on at home so there really is no need to report them. The highlight of my week actually comes at the end of the week and other than that life is just rolling on by full of comings and goings and things to do, but life has settled here into a routine that circles about every week.
This, well not actually a lull, because I am quite busy, but this routine that it has taken me 8 months to sort out has finally left me time to explore those things that I have been wanting to do, and kind of the secondary goal for my Peace Corps experience. Since I have been knitting, which I’m always so happy to have learned, but now I’m ready for a project bigger than scarves, hats, head bands and I think I might be ready for a sweater, well a vest type thing which I am going to begin soon. It may be ugly, but it will be a true triumph if it holds my attention for long enough to complete it. Then I have been doing doodles of sorts and hope to actually get back into the practice of drawing, which, much like sports, takes a couple practices and warm up’s until something of actual quality can be produced. Then, if I can find a cheap one of decent quality, I might try my hand at the guitar. I hear you can get them pretty cheap in some of the South African towns, and think it might be a fun past time to know. It seems like I am the only one who does not know how to play here. I would just pick up the piano again, but I have a feeling those are more expensive and are definitely not going to fit in my house. And finally, the big one, figuring out a future for myself. It’s not that I feel any immediate pressure to pin point exactly what it is that I’m going to do with this life of mine, but I am starting to actually think seriously on it. Right now, I feel like every day I have a new idea of what it is that I want to do, so the minute one sticks around for more than one day, I might have to seriously consider it.
But I will have to leave you in suspense of such an answer, because for the next couple of weeks I, again, will be taking a hiatus on blogging. My parents will be visiting and I will be traveling around. I’m really excited, as I am posting this my parents are on their way over the Atlantic and I will meet them on Sunday. So here is the low down on what we are doing. I first meet them in Johannesburg and then we are going to Krueger National Park to do a three day safari, which I am totally excited about, I hope I see a lion and some monkeys and all those curious animals native to all of Africa, sans Lesotho. Then I am bringing my parents to Lesotho. I will show them around Maseru, which will probably take about 5 minutes, because it is not a big city then to the camp town Teya-Teyaneng so we can check out the weavers there and pick up a few, actual Lesotho souvenirs. We will then overnight at my site where my parents will get to see the school I am putting the library in and the clinic as well. I have been talking about my parents’ visit for quite some time now, so every one at the clinic is really excited to meet them. It will be interesting to say the least. Then the next day we go off to Cape Town for six days. I’m soooooooo very excited. I’m going to get my hair done and do some shopping and have a gigantic latte every day and a fountain soda. I’m also going to hit up the book shop and get a gazillion books and magazines. Oh we are also going to go to some major wineries. I can’t wait!!!!!! This will be a lot of fun. I mean all that stuff plus hot showers and consistent electricity that doesn’t turn off every other day. Plus a vacation from public transportation, which you all know is my absolute favorite. I’m not going to know how to react in a private car. It will be great though, I’m going to sit in the back and stretch out and allow my parents to take me hither and listen to any music on the ride except Basotho music. I can’t wait. Really though this past week I have been like a kid on Christmas Eve. I can’t sit still and I’m so excited I hardly have been able to sleep, which also may be due to the anti-malaria medication I have to take. I’m not going to lie, the dreams are beyond vivid. Last night I dreamt that a rat was crawling it my bed and it was like I could feel it tugging on my sheets, but I couldn’t wake up, it was horrible, especially after last week’s fiasco.
OH my, I almost completely forgot, the Donkey Pub Crawl we went on. It was, a good time to say the least, local bars+15 PCV’s+donkeys can lead to two different things, a good time or trouble, and there was no trouble at all. Thank God. I’ll have to get some pictures up soon. I mean me on a donkey is an interesting sight. Other than that not too much else to report other than it was a good time and I got to see a lot of PCV’s that I don’t normally get to see. If any one ever wants to visit, I think that will be a mainstay on the list of things to-do.
Well okay, sorry for the rabbit trail, I’m really very excited for my vacation, it will be a more than welcomed break. So have a great next couple of weeks, and I’ll catch you all up when I get back, Salang Hantle!
