Back up and running...
So hey there again. As some of you know, I have been at Boston University working on my Master’s of Public Health in Epidemiology and International Health. As a fun bonus, we are encouraged to go abroad during the summer and work in the health sector internationally. I jumped on that. So here I am sitting the night before I take off from dreary old Boston to hop the ocean and check out Madagascar. Unfortunately it will be only for a small amount of time, just two months, and I will return home in July, just in time to catch some summer action before Boston plummets into winter (which I am beginning to believe it just never gets warm here.) I will be doing work on malnutrition projects, with the ultimate goal of making some babies fat.
When re-reading my past blogs from Lesotho it was some intense stuff at times. I feel I have mellowed even more in some respects, yet have definitely gone back to some of my much more structured ‘American’/anal-retentive ways. As a result I now get the opportunity to go through adjustment to Africa all over again. I must also admit I am going into this feeling rather blind. I have had less than a week to prepare everything and am taking considerably less baggage. So here’s to hoping I prepared properly and didn’t forget anything too major…like bug spray, which I am just realizing I forgot. Let’s hope they have some there.
I will keep this new post short and sweet and just give you some logistics. I fly out tomorrow (Tuesday) and land in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar mid afternoon on Wednesday. From there I will be based in Antananarivo for the next two months. I will do my best to keep a steady blog of what I’m up to, however I make no promises that it will be in the least bit interesting. Feel free to call me out on any stupid stuff I will inevitably do, it helps to keep me sane. So have a great beginning of the summer and I hope you enjoy!

I'll let you know how miserably hot it is in Boston this summer. Say hey to the lemurs for me and take some pics of the funky trees.
