my site placement!!

okay, sorry it has been sooo long since my last post, but you know, africa happened and internet has been few and far between. so exciting news, i got my site placement, so basically i've got my volunteer site for the next two years. keep in mind though that as i am describing it, it is totally up to me what i do really b/c i have to kind of feel out the community to see what they want and also this is a grassroots organization so i will not be providing straight up services but will be training others to do so so it is sustainable. soooo...... (drum roll please)....i will be working 30 minutes outside of maseru in a medium sized village called Ha-Senekane (google earth it and check it out) and i have ELECTRICITY, yay!!! AND RUNNING WATER, woot woot!!! and best part a MODERN HOME (aka no rondavel, and no tin roof, hell yeah...). outside of that and most importantly, i really don't care too much about the home thing, but i will be working at Pallabong ARV Clinic, providing help and training to people living with HIV/AIDS and working with prevention, small income generating projects, gardening, small animal rearing ???, and basically helping out anyway i see nessecary for people living with this disease. i'm sooooooo super excited, i could not ask for a better placement and also this is not solely an adult clinic so i will be getting my share of the basotho babies and maybe having to angelina jolie-it back to the states (aka please stop me from brining home a herd of african babies...). i mean i can't wait to start, i can't wait to meet my organization, and i was literally jumping up and down when i got it. but like i said i have to take it with a grain of salt, b/c this time next week i could be like i hate my site, and it sucks. also "running water" will probably mean no shower, no hot water and one sink and a toliet that will sometimes work. and the electricity thing is lesotho gets its electricity cut off every few days by south africa b/c of the energy shortage and i will still be miles away from anything that resembles "internet." but hopefull i will have a cell signal and that will work well. also i should hopefully be getting some photos up soon, but after the festivities last night i need to lets say "sort them out" and figure out the best to post. i love you all and miss you a ton. i really can't wait to hear from you all and i hope you are all having a wonderful summer!!!
